Titles, victories, spectators: the figures for the 2024/25 TTBL season

A spectacular season in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) has come to an end with the Liebherr TTBL final and the championship of TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen. Before the 2025/26 season gets underway, we take a look back and present some remarkable figures from the season.

2 - Borussia Dortmund did not need a long start-up time: The newly promoted team found its feet remarkably quickly in its debut year in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) - and celebrated its first win on match day 2. After losing their TTBL debut 1:3 in Bremen, BVB celebrated their first victory just a few days later: At Post SV Mühlhausen, Dortmund won 3:1 thanks to individual victories by Yongyin Li (2) and Anders Lind. With 16:28 points, the newcomers left many an established team behind them and finished the season in ninth place.

3 - As Hugo Calderano and Simon Gauzy bid farewell, TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen celebrated once again. The Swabians secured the German Championship and German Table Tennis Cup double for the third time in the club's history. The team had already achieved this in 2004 and 2019 - Calderano and Gauzy had already been part of the successful team six years ago. Ochsenhausen has now won a total of five championships and five cups.

5 - Borussia Düsseldorf and TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell often made it particularly clear over the course of the season. Both teams won five 3-0 victories each, more than any other team. Curious: TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen celebrated only one outright victory in the main round, but then twice won 3-0 against 1. FC Saarbrücken TT in the play-offs. TTC OE Clarity Telefonie-Systeme Bad Homburg and TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau were left without a 3-0 win, while ASC Grünwettersbach and Borussia Dortmund each managed one.

9 - No club fielded more players than ASC Grünwettersbach: The Baden club sent nine players into action over the course of the season, demonstrating the club's broad base. Ricardo Walther (16 appearances) Tiago Apolonia (15), Leo de Nodrest (14), Guilherme Teodoro (14), Rafael Turrini (4), Chang Yu-An (2), Huang Yan-Cheng (2), Louis Price (1) and Thomas Maynard (1) were delighted to finish seventh in the table. Eight players played for TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell. TSV Bad Königshofen, SV Werder Bremen, TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt and Post SV Mühlhausen only had four players each.

11 - When 1. FC Saarbrücken TT or TSV Bad Königshofen were involved, there were often particularly exciting matches to watch. These two teams each went through to the doubles eleven times over the course of the season. This was a real secret of success for Bad Königshofen in particular: The combinations Bastian Steger/Martin Allegro (5:0), Jin Ueda/Allegro (3:2) and Filip Zeljko/Allegro (1:0) achieved a 9:2 record and thus played a major part in reaching the play-offs. Saarbrücken won seven of their eleven doubles matches. TTC OE Clarity Telefonie-Systeme Bad Homburg had to go the full distance ten times (2:8), Borussia Düsseldorf only five times (4:1).

29 - Timo Boll played continuously in the Bundesliga for 29 years, during which time he enjoyed an incomparable sporting career. As a 15-year-old, he made his debut for TTV Gönnern in 1996, for whom he played until 2006; he then moved to Borussia Düsseldorf, for whom he played his last match as a professional in the Liebherr TTBL final. During his career, Boll won the German Team Championship 14 times (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) and the German Table Tennis Cup 13 times (1998, 2002, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2024). The seven-time Olympian will remain an ambassador for the sport of table tennis, both for the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB) and for Borussia Düsseldorf. "It's great to continue to be there for the sport of table tennis and to be able to give something back. I'm looking forward to my new role and to having more time for my loved ones in the future," said Boll at the Liebherr TTBL Final.

1,223 - On average, Borussia Düsseldorf welcomed 1,223 spectators to the matches - more than any other team in the TTBL. A total of 14,680 fans watched Timo Boll's farewell tour in Düsseldorf. TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen came second in the rankings with a total of 9,545 spectators, ahead of TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell with a total of 8,170 spectators.
