Continuity at the TTC: Sam Walker also extends his contract in Grenzau
The next important personnel decision at TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau: the Bundesliga table tennis club has extended the contract with Sam Walker for a further year. After head coach Slobodan Grujic and the players Feng Yi-Hsin and Maciej Kubik, the Englishman is already the fourth player from the current Bundesliga team who will continue to wear the Grenzau jersey next season.
"I've extended my contract in Grenzau because I feel very comfortable and happy here," says Sam Walker. "I love this club and the people around here. It means a lot to me to play for Grenzau. We have a great team spirit here and are developing in exactly the right direction together with Bobo. I'm very happy to be part of this team and I'm excited to see how far we can go together."
"I'm particularly pleased that Sam is staying," says Grujic, who once played in the same team as the Englishman in Langenselbold. "I've known him for a very long time. He's a great team player and a very strong doubles player. He always gives his all for the team and has already clinched very important victories for us in both singles and doubles. Sam is a very important part of this homogeneous team. He fits perfectly into the team structure and simply belongs in this team, both as a player and as a person."
"The results in the current season are probably better than we all expected," says Walker. "We always knew that we had a team with great potential and that we could beat anyone on a good day. We've shown that we can perform at this high level more consistently than in the previous season. Looking ahead to next season, I expect us to continue on this path, that I will continue to develop personally and that we will continue to improve as a team."
"Sam is incredibly valuable to the team," says TTC manager Markus Ströher, who is also delighted with the contract extension. "He has an excellent attitude, is always extremely professional and loyal and always puts himself at the service of the team. We are very pleased that he is also staying in Grenzau.
