Liebherr TTBL final: Timo Boll's last big performance in the Süwag Energie ARENA
The big showdown in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) is imminent: Borussia Düsseldorf and TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen will meet in the Liebherr TTBL final on June 15 - and the table tennis world is looking to Frankfurt with anticipation. Because Timo Boll, an icon of the sport, is bidding farewell to the big stage in the Süwag Energie ARENA.
June 15 will be a very special day for the Frankfurt sports region and the entire table tennis world. Not only because the Liebherr TTBL final will once again be held in the Rhine-Main metropolis, but also because of Timo Boll: the table tennis superstar will be playing his very last professional match - virtually on his doorstep, as Boll lives in nearby Höchst in the Odenwald. The TTBL grand final will be held in Frankfurt for the eleventh time, turning the Süwag Energie ARENA into an emotional farewell stage for one of Germany's greatest sporting careers.
“We have a close partnership with the city of Frankfurt and the Süwag Energie ARENA and are delighted to be able to host the event again this year,” says Nico Stehle, Managing Director of Tischtennis Bundesliga GmbH. "Frankfurt is a very special location for us - both historically and organizationally. With the German Table Tennis Association, the sport has an important home here. In addition, there are committed partners and an enthusiastic audience that regularly creates a great atmosphere."
Liebherr TTBL final: If you want to be there, you'd better hurry
The multi-purpose arena in the Höchst district, home to the Skyliners Frankfurt and a regular venue for top-class sporting events, will be the stage for Boll's farewell performance on the final day. The 43-year-old exceptional athlete will play the last match of his unique career in the Borussia Düsseldorf kit and fight for his 15th championship title. TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen, led by Brazilian world-class player Hugo Calderano, will challenge the defending champions and, after winning the cup in January, will be looking to complete the double and the fifth championship in the club's history.
With around 3,000 spectators, the crowds were already huge last year. This year, the fans are going one better: the demand for tickets is huge and the rush for seats has already led to an increase in capacity. So if you want to be there live when the table tennis elite bow to Timo Boll one last time, you should hurry. Tickets are available from 14 euros in the TTBL ticket store. The popular group ticket is available for groups of ten or more - from just 9 euros per person.
