Liebherr TTBL final: 20 days to go until the big showdown - spectator capacity increased again
The season in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) is heading towards its climax: Borussia Düsseldorf and TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen will face each other in the Liebherr TTBL final on June 15. The duel in the Süwag Energie ARENA in Frankfurt is likely to go down in the history books - with Timo Boll, a table tennis legend, giving his farewell performance. The spectator capacity has been increased once again.
The countdown is on: In 20 days, the table tennis world will be looking to Frankfurt, where the Liebherr TTBL final will be held on June 15. The duel between record champions Borussia Düsseldorf and the challengers, TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen, not only promises to be a thrilling match - it will also be Timo Boll's last major appearance. The 44-year-old exceptional player will serve in the Süwag Energie ARENA for the last time in a professional match - and very close to his home, Höchst in the Odenwald region of Hesse. An emotional career finale in front of a home crowd.
The season highlight of the TTBL will be held in the Main metropolis for the eleventh time. The Süwag Energie ARENA will once again become the center of the table tennis nation. In sporting terms, two absolute top teams will meet in the final, who have already gone head-to-head in the main round. Düsseldorf and Ochsenhausen finished the round tied on points - only the better match ratio secured Borussia first place in the table. It is difficult to pick a favorite among the opponents: Düsseldorf is fielding Anton Källberg, Dang Qiu, Kay Stumper, Borgar Haug and, of course, Timo Boll; the TTF are relying on world number three Hugo Calderano and will be followed by Simon Gauzy, Shunsuke Togami, Tiago Abiodun and Leonardo Iizuka.
Capacity increased again - tickets available from 14 euros
After four championships in a row, each won against perennial rivals 1. FC Saarbrücken TT, Düsseldorf would like to add another trophy to its collection of titles. It would be the record champions' 35th German championship in total and Boll's 15th as a farewell. The TTF have been on top four times in total, most recently in 2019. Back then, they won the double of championship and cup - also with Calderano and Gauzy in the squad. They now want to repeat this success at the same venue six years later: In January, Ochsenhausen had already secured the German Table Tennis Cup in the Liebherr Cup Final Four by beating Saarbrücken 3:1 in the final.
The demand for tickets for the Liebherr TTBL final is correspondingly high: the TTBL has therefore increased capacity once again and opened up additional spectator stands in the Süwag Energie ARENA for ticket sales. Anyone who wants to be there live when Timo Boll bids farewell to the professional stage should therefore secure their tickets quickly. They are available from just 14 euros in the TTBL ticket store. The popular group ticket is available for groups of ten or more - from just 9 euros per person.
