Borgar Haug is leaving Borussia
Borussia Düsseldorf’s Borgar Haug is leaving the record-holding champions at the end of the season after three successful years. It is not yet clear which club he will play for in the future. What is certain, however, is that he will continue to live and train in Düsseldorf.
With Borussia, the 23-year-old has so far won one German championship (2024) and one German Cup (2024), and finished second in the Champions League twice (2024, 2025). The move to another club is important for Haug so he can play in more matches and gain more experience. “Borgar has developed well in recent years and has even more potential—I’m sure of that,” explains Borussia’s manager Andreas Preuß. “I think a new club and the chance to get more playing time will take him even further. With us, he would have little opportunity to play in the future squad. We wish him all the best and much success on his future path.”
But they won’t lose touch, as the left-hander will not only continue to live in Düsseldorf but also remain part of the Borussia training group.
“I am very grateful for the past three seasons with Borussia Düsseldorf. It has been a wonderful time for me, and I have learned so much during my time here,” says Borgar Haug. “Borussia is a fantastic club in every way, and I am grateful to everyone involved—my teammates, coaches, staff, and fans—for their support and the wonderful memories. I will look back on my time here with great gratitude.”
