Mühlhausen in the Champions League quarterfinals

Mühlhausen in the Champions League quarterfinals

Post SV Mühlhausen has taken a big step towards the quarterfinals in the Champions League. The Thuringians won the first leg of the round of 16 against HB Ostrov by a clear 3-1 margin. The return leg in Czechia will take place on December 19.

Mühlhausen confirmed its role as favorite even without German champion Kay Stumper. The national player was still being rested around two weeks after his minor taxi accident following the WTT tournament in London. Chinese top star Lin Gaoyuan was not even sent to the Unstrut for the must-win match. The hosts scored points through two-time European team champion Marcos Freitas and former German champion Steffen Mengel.

In addition to Mühlhausen, three other TTBL clubs are in the round of 16 of the premier class. Defending champions 1. FC Saarbrücken, record winners Borussia Düsseldorf and newcomers ASC Grünwettersbach will play their first legs on Friday.

This means that the tournament will remain exciting as we wait to see which German teams will prevail. If Saarbrücken, Borussia Düsseldorf, and Grünwettersbach also win their round of 16 matches, there will be two all-German duels in the quarterfinals – and at least two German teams will be represented in the Final 4.
