Cup quarter-final draw for 2025/26: Defending champions Ochsenhausen to play Mühlhausen at home, Velbert to host Champions League winners Saarbrücken
Today's draw for the quarterfinals of the German Table Tennis Cup promises exciting matches for everyone: The only second division team, SV Union Velbert, will face the current Champions League winner and leader of the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL), 1. FC Saarbrücken TT, led by Olympic champion Fan Zhendong.
Post SV Mühlhausen faces a tough draw in the quarterfinals. They will play away against last season's double winners, TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen. Both teams are currently close together in the table – the evenly matched encounter promises to be exciting. In addition, TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell will face TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau and TTC OE Bad Homburg will take on Borussia Düsseldorf.
The current TTBL leaders, 1. FC Saarbrücken TT, featuring Olympic champion Fan Zhendong, will face second division side SV Union Velbert away from home. Saarbrücken lost to eventual cup winners Ochsenhausen in last year's final – now the team is aiming to reach the Liebherr Cup Final Four once again.
The teams from TTC OE Clarity Telefonie-Systeme Bad Homburg and record cup winners Borussia Düsseldorf are also hoping to reach the final four again. Bad Homburg last reached the semi-finals and wants to be among the top four again. Düsseldorf, on the other hand, was eliminated in the round of 16 last year by TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell.
The two teams TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell with Dimitrij Ovtcharov and TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau are also dreaming of reaching the 2026 Cup Final Four. Fulda narrowly failed to make it past the quarterfinals last year, while Grenzau was eliminated in the round of 16. Both teams have their sights set firmly on the Cup Final Four – Fulda with home advantage this time.
