New addition for Grenzau: Luka Mladenovic joins the TTC
This new addition is a perfect fit for the team in both sporting and personal terms: TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau has signed 25-year-old Luka Mladenovic for the new season. The Luxembourger with Serbian roots has been in the service of current Bundesliga table tennis club 1. FSV Mainz 05 since 2017 and will move to Brexbachtal in the summer. He will be hunting for points in the TTBL under the guidance of TTC Head Coach Slobodan Grujic and alongside Feng Yi-Hsin, Maciej Kubik and Samuel Walker.
"Luka fits perfectly into our team with his character," says Grujic, who already knows the tall Mladenovic from his training work before his time in Grenzau. "He has developed very well athletically in recent years and is highly motivated to take the next step forward together with our team. In him, we've got a player who is always there, will give his all and opens up new tactical options for us. I'm really looking forward to working with him."
"For me, Grenzau is one of the biggest and most successful clubs in Europe alongside Düsseldorf," says Mladenovic. "This club has already celebrated so many successes, and other players from Luxembourg have also played here. And then there's the Zugbrückenhalle, which is simply legendary for me. I asked myself where I would like to play if I could choose. And only Grenzau came into question for me, because I have the feeling that I can take the next step in my development here."
Mladenovic, who has a strong record in Mainz in the current season (5:8), has observed in recent years how the TTC has offered young players prospects and how they have established themselves in the TTBL. "This team has developed incredibly. I'm so keen to keep going with the boys next year. From our very first conversation, everything felt so right that I'm just looking forward to Grenzau. This is where I belong, this is where I want to prove myself!"
TTC manager Markus Ströher is also delighted with the new addition: "Luka is not only a super likeable guy who is passionate about the team as a team player, but he also has a clear plan for how he wants to develop. I'm sure that with Bobo's support as coach, we'll have a lot of fun with him."
