Table Tennis Spectacle in Frankfurt: Huge Interest in the New Final4 Format

The Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) is heading toward a spectacular finale: When the German champion is crowned on May 30 and 31, thousands of fans will be on hand at the Süwag ENERGIE Arena in Frankfurt to cheer on the action. Around 2,000 tickets have been sold in just two weeks. Anyone who wants to attend the Liebherr TTBL Final4 in person should act fast.

This season, the German Championship final will be held for the first time as a Final4 tournament, and fans are enthusiastically embracing the new format. Just recently, the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) announced the venue and opened ticket sales—since then, around 2,000 spectators have already secured their spots at the final tournament.

Fans can look forward to seeing Fan Zhendong, among others. The Chinese superstar and Olympic champion will take the court for 1. FC Saarbrücken TT for the last time at the Liebherr TTBL Final4 and hopes to bid farewell with another title. There was already a fan effect in the TTBL during the main round—more than 70,000 fans watched the matches at the venues, more than ever before. In the semifinals, Fan Zhendong and FCS will face SV Werder Bremen. The Hanseatic team sensationally secured second place in the standings and had already impressively held their own against Saarbrücken in the main round.

Liebherr TTBL Final4: Semifinals on Saturday, Final on Sunday

The other semifinal pits Borussia Düsseldorf against TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt. The record champions from the state capital are in excellent form even in their first season following Timo Boll’s retirement and won the main round in commanding fashion. However, a walk in the park against Bergneustadt is by no means to be expected—in addition to world No. 13 Benedikt Duda, the rest of the team has also repeatedly secured sensational victories in singles and doubles. “On paper, we may be the underdogs,” says TTC coach Frederik Duda, “but my team has proven time and again this season that it can hold its own against any opponent. We accept every challenge and are heading to the Final4 with the clear goal of winning it.”

The match between Düsseldorf and Bergneustadt takes place on Saturday, May 30, starting at 1 p.m. This will be followed by the match between Bremen and Saarbrücken at 5 p.m. The two winners will then battle for the German championship the following day starting at 1 p.m. The venue for both days is the Süwag ENERGIE Arena in Frankfurt am Main.

Group Tickets: Starting at just 9 euros for the Liebherr TTBL Final4

Reservations for specific seats can be made through the official Table Tennis Bundesliga ticket shop, by phone at 0761 888499 99, and at all known ticket outlets.

By the way, the popular group ticket is available again for groups of 10 or more.
