The 1. FC Saarbrücken Table Tennis is sending a strong signal ahead of the upcoming season: Hugo Calderano, the current world No. 3 and World Cup winner, is joining the club. The Brazilian has been part of the absolute world elite for years and will return to the TTBL starting next season.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome one of the best players in the world, Hugo Calderano, to 1. FC Saarbrücken Table Tennis,” says Erwin Berg. “After the departure of Darko Jorgic, he is the right building block to fill this gap at an absolute world-class level. Hugo brings international top-level quality, enormous experience, and exactly the level of performance our team needs in the current situation to compete for titles again next season.”

Hugo Calderano is also looking ahead to his new role in Saarbrücken with great anticipation:

With the signing of Hugo Calderano, 1. FC Saarbrücken Table Tennis once again underlines its ambition to be a permanent contender at both national and international level. The Brazilian superstar will compete for the club in the TTBL, the German Cup, and the Champions League.
