Dortmund retains the upper hand in Mühlhausen

Borussia Dortmund remains a formidable opponent in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL). On the fifth match day, Borussia secured a 3:1 away win at Post SV Mühlhausen. Anders Lind once again proved to be a reliable point scorer and remains undefeated this season. Despite strong performances by the hosts, Dortmund took the points back to the Ruhr region.

Kristian Karlsson gave Dortmund the lead in the opening singles match. The Swede prevailed in three sets against Kay Stumper, who was on equal terms, especially in the third set, but was unable to capitalise on the close situations. With his 3-0 victory, Karlsson put Borussia in a comfortable position early on (9-11, 6-11, 10-12).

The next match was also fiercely contested. After an evenly matched start, Anders Lind narrowly won the first set, going on to win three of the four sets overall. Marcos Freitas managed to win the set to level the score at 1:1, but in the end Lind secured the second point for the visitors from Dortmund with his victory (12:14, 11:5, 8:11, 9:11).

Mengel secures Mühlhausen's point of honour

Steffen Mengel responded impressively for the hosts. In a thrilling five-set thriller against Cedric Nuytinck, he showed fighting spirit and nerves of steel. After winning two sets, Mengel had to stay on for another set, but in the all-deciding fifth set he kept his cool, played his chances consistently and secured the point of honour for Mühlhausen.

The final singles match between Kay Stumper and Anders Lind kept all spectators on the edge of their seats once again. Stumper managed to equalise in the second set after falling behind and bring the score to 1:1, but Lind prevailed in the close first and third sets with a minimal lead in each. With an 11-7 win in the fourth set, Lind sealed the victory for Dortmund and secured his team's 3-1 away win. ‘We knew it would be a tough match. Dortmund fielded their best team, especially with Lind, who is currently in impressive form. In the end, we have to say that Dortmund was the better team over the four matches,’ Steffen Mengel summed up after the match.
